Hide & Seek

"Pervasive games, also known as augmented reality games, city games or big games, have been bubbling away for a while. The highest-profile game that has run in London to date was Street Wars although flash mobs & parkour could both be said to be variants of the phenomenon.

Game types vary from scavenger hunts to imaginary tours of Baghdad to games of benevolent assassination. Most are underpinned by a few principles:
• rediscovering the joy of play in non-virtual worlds
• engagement & social contact through game narratives
• using the city as your playground
• transforming urban spaces into cinematic & theatrical stage-sets

We want to draw out enthusiasts, bring them together, play, talk, and develop a London scene for pervasive games. If you have read this far, then you care too, so go to the link above and volunteer."

Nanika Internship 07

Hello.
Nanika is around a year old now and we are getting to the point where it makes sense to take on an intern, we like our expansion real nice and slow.
We are looking for someone with strong design skills, a good eye for the devilish details, great ideas for interactive work and lots of enthusiasm.

Knowledge of the various Adobe packages and platform independence are a given, a bit of 3D experience wouldn't hurt.
Strong Google skills are a must.
You will have at least dabbled in Flash programming or Processing, good Java or C++ skills would be a dream come true.
If you also happen to be good with electronics I think we should probably swap places.
You'll be working with our small team of 2 ( 1 + 0.5 + 0.5 ) from the Hi-ReS! London office on various in-house things and whatever projects we happen to have on at the time, some very interesting stuff coming up.

If you are interested send your application to: info ((at)) nanikawa.com with Internship 07 in the subject line.

The Hedi days are over at DH

Christian Dior "fed up" with Hedi Slimane, replaces him with KRIS VAN ASSCHE

According to WWD, Hedi Slimane wants to establish his own fashion label – and the designer is worried about losing rights and ownership to his name. "Slimane is reluctant to give up control of his name and has set a high price tag on the value of his trademark," said WWD's sources.

Christian Dior is said to be "fed up" with Slimane's constant demands and the bad feeling has begun filtering down into the company. Sources said Dior was willing to back a signature house, but there were wide differences over the estimated value of the Hedi Slimane brand and control rights.
Sources close to Slimane indicate he is sad to leave Dior and "tried to make things work" with the luxury giant, but ultimately he was unwilling to compromise his work, especially concerning a label under his own name.

In his six years at Dior, Slimane redefined the Dior Homme man.
