Making ofs
Phew,
Long time no speak... feels like I haven't posted here in months. Hang on, I think I haven't. Things have been busy here at the Hi-ReS! HQ, and people have been on holiday, etc etc, but I think we will get back on track here very soon.
So to start it off, here are some videos I came across, explaining how some of my favourite videos where made. The first one is still one of my faves ever, and I still can't really say I know exactly how he managed it:
This next one just amazes me every time I see it to the point that I don't notice the annoying music that accompanies it. I love the bit where he talks about Benny Hill, I totally grew up on this look of interior video shoots and exterior 16mm. I just never considered using that as a style today.
Daft Punk Around the World - A lecture
White Stripes - told on a lake
Star Guitar
Chemical Brothers - The Making Of Star Guitar - video powered by Metacafe
All time classic: Cunningham's stunning video for Bjork
Quite like how he talks about his faith in post and getting really nervous about seeing rushes or going into telecine... I have been through the same thing a few times. You can always fix it in post, trust me:
One last one - for Bjorks Declare Independence.
Not a huge fan of the song, but the video is amazing.

3 Comments:
great collection of vids. The beat graphing for star guitar is pretty nuts. you think he could have done it easier using the actual midi data.
im a student studying technoperformance and new media art.
